Body Contouring

UAL Liposuction (Ultrasonic assisted liposuction)

Many patients are dissatisfied with excess areas of localized fat that are unresponsive to common weight loss techniques, including diet and exercise. Ultrasonic assisted liposuction or UAL may be a helpful solution for many people who are unhappy with their body's current contouring, especially in the anterior part of the neck, upper arms and armpits, male chest / breasts, trunk, abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, inner knees, calves, and ankles.

UAL Liposuction (Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction) Facts

A UAL procedure can help patients achieve greater contour and tightness in the desired areas, as well as a more flattering figure. Ultrasonic assisted liposuction is usually performed as an outpatient surgery with the patient under sedation, local anesthesia or general anesthesia. Small hollow tubes called cannulas are inserted into the skin through extremely small incisions. The cannula is connected to a vacuum tube that will suction away excess fat. If a surgeon is removing large amounts of fat, you may be asked to provide one or two units of blood that can be used for a transfusion after your procedure. However, UAL decreases the likelihood that this will be necessary.

As with any surgical procedure, liposuction brings with it a number of risks and dangers. While some minor complications occur on occasion with UAL procedures, major complications are very rare.

UAL Liposuction (Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction) Recuperation and Healing

Before your procedure, we will schedule a personal consultation between you and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Freeman to discuss with you what you can expect from the procedure as well as how long you can expect your recovery time to be. After UAL, patients leave with a compression garment over the treated areas to reduce swelling. We recommend compression for about a month following the procedure. After some of the initial pain is gone, you can move to wearing spandex or lycra clothing for compression. When compared to other types of liposuction procedures, UAL offers a faster healing time as well as less post-operative pain and discomfort. Bruising and swelling should be gone after 2-4 weeks and the procedure's intended effects should be in place 2-3 months after the surgery.

UAL Liposuction (Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction) and Other Options

The Woodlands UAL surgeons at The Freeman Center for Aesthetic Surgery may recommend alternate or additional procedures for you in order to enhance your results, such as a tummy tuck (Abdominoplasty), breast reduction, breast lift, breast augmentation, thigh lift or buttock lift.

Insurance Guidelines

If a UAL procedure is not covered by your insurance policy, you are responsible for paying for the procedure in full. Most insurance companies deem this procedure "cosmetic" and will not cover any of the costs.
