Chin Augmentation

If you are one of those patients that suffer from a lack of a well defined facial profile, a chin augmentation procedure may be the answer. Facial surgery procedures can be an effective way to deal with problems of the face, chin or jaw. For example, many people feel that their chins are not shaped appropriately when compared to the rest of their face. There are, however, a number of treatment options that can help patients achieve the aesthetic goals they desire.

For individuals who wish to change the shape or appearance of their chin, we can offer chin implants. Additionally, we can provide you with more information on chin reduction surgery, another popular procedure.

At The Freeman Center for Plastic Surgery in The Woodlands we have spent the last 25 years studying the face in relation to the nose, mouth and chin. Under the direction of experienced board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Phillip Freeman, we can help you enhance your profile and bring your entire face back into balance with a chin augmentation.

Chin Augmentation Facts

Every face is unique and brings with it certain details and difficulties. Before any procedure is done, Dr. Freeman will want to schedule a consultation with you so that he can determine what specific surgery options will be best for you. Your aesthetic goals are important to Dr. Freeman and important to a good result.

Most chin augmentation procedures utilize the latest facial implants. These implants are meant to add to the natural shape of your jaw making it appear natural and in correct proportion to the rest of your face and jaw line.

The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.

Chin Augmentation Recuperation and Healing

A Chin Augmentation procedure is a relatively minor procedure. Following chin augmentation surgery, swelling is common around the lower face. Swelling should disappear after a few weeks at most.

Chin Augmentation And Other Surgical Options

While a Chin Augmentation procedure alone has the potential to alter the profile of your face it will not correct other facial concerns of the nose, eyes, forehead, mouth and neck. Patients desiring more dramatic changes to the face may want to consider Microfat Grafting (Chin Implant) and Laser Skin Resurfacing, Cosmetic Fillers, Liposuction of the Neck, Eyelid Surgery, Brow lift, or Face lift procedures.

Contact lenses can be worn when they feel comfortable in the eyes within 3-7 days.

Insurance Guidelines

A chin augmentation is considered to be a cosmetic procedure by many insurance companies, and as such, is not covered under the policy. If your insurance company considers this treatment to be cosmetic, you will be responsible for covering the cost in full. It is suggested that you check with your insurance company about their policies regarding cosmetic procedures.
