Arm lift

At The Freeman Center for Plastic Surgery we are here to help you eliminate excess skin from the upper arms and achieve the appearance and self-confidence that you truly desire. If you have excess and sagging skin on your upper arms due to aging, genetics or rapid weight loss, an arm lift procedure may be right for you.

Arm Lift Facts

Arm lift procedures are typically done with the patient under general anesthesia. An incision is required in the back of the arm to successfully remove unwanted skin. While the incision is placed as inconspicuously as possible, some visible scarring will occur.
It is important to remember that any surgical procedure brings with it certain risks and dangers. While minor complications have occasionally taken place in arm lift surgeries, major complications are very rare.

Arm Lift Recuperation and Healing

Following an arm lift procedure, the upper arms are either wrapped or placed in an elastic sleeve that will help reduce swelling. Most of the initial healing will take place in approximately 10-14 days. After 2-3 weeks, the sutures can be removed and swelling should disappear after 3-4 weeks. Most scarring will fade in 6-24 months, but this can vary depending on your skin.

Arm Lift and Other Surgical Options

Depending on your personal goals and your body type, patients may want to consider additional procedure, such as liposuction of the upper arms or axillae.

Arm Lift Insurance Guidelines

An Arm Lift is considered to be a cosmetic procedure by many insurance companies, and as such, is not covered under the policy. If your insurance company considers this treatment to be cosmetic, you will be responsible for covering the cost in full. It is suggested that you check with your insurance company about their policies regarding cosmetic procedures.
