Phillip N. Freeman MD, FACS - Biography
Phillip N. Freeman is a native Texan, born in Dalhart, Texas. Dr. Freeman graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1969 with a B.S. He graduated with honors from the University of Louisville in 1973 receiving his D.M.D. and 1983 receiving his M.D.. He completed residency training at Southwestern Medical School Dallas in maxillofacial surgery, University of Tennessee Memphis in general surgery, and Baylor College of Medicine, Houston in plastic surgery. After completing his plastic surgery training, he entered private practice in Houston in 1988 and has maintained a highly respected practice in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Freeman has recently moved his practice to The Woodlands and is associated with TWSSC Reconstructive Surgery, P.A.
Dr. Freeman is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery which is the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
In 1994, he was elected as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a prestigious organization that recognizes excellence in clinical care. Dr. Freeman was elected for membership in 1997 into the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASPS), which recognizes plastic surgeons for their expertise and experience in cosmetic surgery. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic and Surgery, Texas Society for Plastic Surgery, the Houston Society of Plastic Surgery. He has articles published in major medical journals, and has been speaker for both local and national.
Dr. Freeman maintains staff privileges at Memorial Hermann -The Woodlands, Memorial Herman - Memorial City, Memorial Herman- Southwest, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, Sterling Ridge Surgery Center, Special Surgery Center, and several other out patient surgery centers. His principal clinical interests are cosmetic surgery as well as reconstructive cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Freeman is part of several teams of surgeons who regularly travel to third world countries to bring desperately needed surgical care. As a part of these highly respected teams of surgeons Dr. Freeman graciously give of his time and talent to restore cleft lip and palate deformities. In addition Dr. Freeman works with Mexico Missions building churches for local residents of Chiapas, Mexico as well as Quest Mens Ministries building homes for indigent families in Juarez, Mexico.
In addition to a very busy Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery practice, Dr. Freeman also has a very busy family life. Dr. Freeman has four sons, age 24, 22, 20, and 17. Dr Freeman is married to Lisa Hanrahan-Freeman who has two daughters age 20 and 17. As a family they are very active and involved in many school, church, and charity activities. Dr. Freeman also enjoys a variety of extra-curricular activities including fishing, hunting, snow skiing, scuba diving and many other sports related activities.
